Well after reading one of the articles from the websites, I think redefining literacy is evaluating information and using that information appropriately.

I think "redefining literacy" is trying to bring back previous methods of evaluating a students literacy. Young students may be missing education because new technology creates images, movies, and audio into stories.
It could also mean evaluating literacy on the basis of how well a student can interpret new forms of media. Which ever it is, books need to continue to be a strong part of classrooms. Without books, students will be missing many forms of literacy.

I think that redefining literacy is looking over what literacy means in our world today. Does it just mean being able to read? Or is there more to it? With the amount of students these days in the classroom coming from different backgrounds, we see different forms of literacy emerging. We have those who can read but only in their native language.

Literacy has really changed today. In the past literacy was based on the 3R's (reading, writing, and arithmetic). In today's society there is so much more information available due to the advancement in technology. Now students have to decide what is real and what isn't...is the information made up or based on facts? It makes you think if what you hear and see on the Internet is reliable.

Redefining literacy refers to the fact that literacy has changed greatly in recent years. There is so much more information available today and it has become much easier to find that information through networking, such as the Internet.

I think it means taking in information and processing it on your own. It no longer is just being able to read and write, but we have to be able to process outside information and put it to use. By watching tv, reading the newspaper, and listening to the radio we take in information and we then use that information we hear or see.

Redefining literacy is evaluating information and trying to bring previous methods back to teaching. There is so much more advancement due to the increase in technology, now instead of taking all technology in they have to use a critical eye while evaluating literacy.
