How much should educators focus on teaching literacy in the classroom?

I think literacy should be prevalent in the classroom. Not only in English class, but all classes need to help develop the skills. In my adolescent literacy class we spend so much time focusing on how important literacy is in the classroom and for the students. The focus should be in all classes though. Working on reading, writing, evaluation of visuals. In some way or form, literacy should be a focus in the classroom.
I believe that literacy should be a main part in any classroom. We have come to a point where technology has taken over, and the children aren't exposed to as much reading and writing like they had in the past. I believe that you can incorporate literacy into any subject area by reading, and writing, and evaluating to tie in the information being learned. All in all, i believe that we as educators should have literacy be one of the main focuses in the classroom.
I think that literacy should be if not the first, one of the first skills taught in a classroom. The ability to read is critical if a student master other skills. For example in science or math classes, a student will not be able to complete their homework if they cannot read the questions in the textbook. Practicing literacy shouldn't be confined to English class. Practicing literacy in other classes will give students practice with their reading skills that can be used when analyzing science, math, or social studies questions.
I think that literacy is an important part of every classroom. I also think that having a wide variety of literacy is just as important. There is no one subject that should focus more on literacy than the other. I think that teachers should stay up to date on the new ways to incorporate literacy into the class because times are changing and many things are now being used on computers only.
I think literacy is important in all classes. Literacy does not just refer to English class, but is seen in all content areas when learning the concepts of a class. I feel that literacy is the most important aspect of a class because it crosses all content areas, and therefore I think literacy should be the main focus in all classes.
I think that literacy is intertwined within all aspects of school's curriculum. For example, students read math problems to solve them and read science experiments to follow procedures. Students also take language arts where they learn how to read a variety of material. I think that students should be told not to believe everything that they read on the Internet because you don't know who published the website.
